In the past I've found https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppetdb-cli (published at https://rubygems.org/gems/puppetdb_cli) to be a really convenient tool for getting PuppetDB data via the CLI with PQL queries. It could be useful if we reconstituted https://github.com/OpenVoxProject/openvoxdb-cli and published some artifacts.
Though, we need to decide if we'll stick with the current Ruby implementation, or pick up the Go implementation from https://github.com/OpenVoxProject/openvoxdb-cli/commits/golang-master/
