MIDI Name for all USB MIDI Types

Hi! Would it be possible to make the MIDI Name change work when the teensy USB Port Type is set to "Serial + MIDI" and "Serial + MIDI + Audio", right now it only works when the selected port type is MIDI

I tried it just now, with 1.41-beta3 using USB Type set to Serial+MIDI+Audio.

This is what I see in Linux with "lsusb -v -d 16c0:048a"

It did indeed change iProduct to "My MIDI".

When I plug this board into a Windows 10 computer, it also shows as "My MIDI".

OK i'm still on Teensyduino 1.37, it's not working on it, only if the port is set to MIDI, also i'm on mac 10.13.2, i'm going to update to the beta of teensyduino now and try it.

Paul I installed teensyduino 1.41 Beta #3, i tried it again, if i set the port to MIDI then the new name will appear under System Information as the port name AND it will also show up as the name for the teensy on all my apps that use midi.

If i set the port name to Serial + MIDI the name will be updated under System Information BUT any apps that use midi will display the name of the device as Teensy MIDI.

Is there any special reason to choose Serial + MIDI? i always use it because i thought that i had to in order to upload the sketch into the teensy and to see debug information on the serial monitor but i just uploaded a sketch and set the port to MIDI and the midi monitor works and i'm able to upload any sketches.

Also while im at it, where can i get more information about the port types specially the new MIDIx4 and MIDIx16

Try using System Profile to look at the details under USB. Or if you have Xcode, run USB Prober (sadly, Apple only provides this more powerful utility with Xcode, not installed by default on every Mac).

that's what i used, here are the details, i called it "BMC MIDI", however all my apps still display it as Teensy MIDI

Ok so if i select MIDI or Serial + MIDI + Audio then the midi name does display properly it's only when it's Serial + MIDI that it doesn't display the midi name

Also being discussed on the forum. USB name changes, but Mac OS-X not necessarily cooperating.
