[JOSS Review] HPC-hardcoded parallelism in examples

I attempted to run everything in the repository on an M4 Max with 64 GBs of RAM. n_jobs of 20–100 across every real example on a 16-core machine and nothing tells a reader to lower it. I ran examples for 2 hours and still had 5 unrun notebooks.
