Text aligned perfectly horizontally only feels force in the direction of text. In my case, I wanted to label points that lie on the x-axis. The adjustment force tries to push away, but in the direction of text so everything still overlaps terribly. After figuring out that was the problem, I fixed my use case with small vertical perturbations of each position. Could be detected and added in the package if you wish to.
