Conservation challenge #95

Description

@ryanhenryhull

We have created a species list for the conservation challenge composed of invasive species, species likely to be heavily affected under climate change, and species relevant to KBA assessments. It is available in the where_to_blitz_2026 sharepoint (shared with you via your mila email).

The map will simply show recent observations of those species according to the following metric:

  1. A table should be generated, every night, consisting of all the observations of these species from the past two weeks.
  2. Three layers should be generated every night, to be displayed at three different zoom levels
    i. Full-Canada level: shows 500 observations across the entire country's area.
    ii. 500km^2 cells (activated once width of screen ~500km) : shows max 150 observations
    iii. 50km^2 cells (width of screen ~50km): shows max 150 observations
  3. To choose which observations to show, we prioritize first by species diversity, then by recency. I.e., before we show two observations for any species on the list, we must have looped across all other species to check if there are observations for them in the given extent.
