Possible to add an option to preview achievement icons in colour? #4877

Some sets (like Myst) intentionally hide information in the grayscale image. Allowing players to view the unlocked image without earning it defeats the extra effort put into doing that. I think sets and set owners should be able to enable or disable colour preview in their achievment sets, most achievements I think are fine to see in colour, on the other hand some achievement icons are specifically hints and are most useful in colour, plus at the end of the day it's already easy to see it for anyone who wants to, I don't think seeing an icon in colour is generally a reward such that it should be locked behind completion, at least for most sets. |

Hi @chellvsGLaDOS 👋 Thanks for posting this suggestion. At this point in time, we don't plan on implementing either of these features. The grayscale icon is part of our design language. Every control we add is yet another thing for users to reason about on the screen. The achievement list and achievement details page are both already doing a lot of work. There are userscripts floating around to support this for the power users who want them. Achievement icons are created to target a specific native size. When they're scaled up in CSS, the browser interpolates the artwork in ways that look bad as opposed to when they're scaled down. The artists who make the artwork have been clear with us they do not want these kinds of scaling artifacts in the work they produce. |

Maybe like an eye icon next to the retropoints or something, to make locked icons temporarily appear in colour (on the achievements page) since they can be great hints for the locations of things, and while it's possible to open the image in a new tab and remove the _lock part of the image, this would be much more convenient.
Similarly, would it be possible for achievement icons to appear larger on the main achievement page, or perhaps a setting for large icons?
