Mods to allow use in Python 3

Have you considered slight modifications to the library to allow it to be used in Python 3 as well?

Not really no. I do not work with that kind of data anymore so I do not care enough to implement any new features/functionality. With that said, feel free to fork the code and if you make any changes to it that you think should be in the master branch, it is very likely that I will accept a pull-request.
