"cannot check for malicious software" warning upon launch, MacOS (13.6.3) #670

Description

@Insert--Name--Here--

When I attempt to open Syncplay for the first time I am blocked from opening it by my Mac's security screening stating: "Syncplay can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."

To get this result I

  1. downloaded Syncplay 1.7.1 from https://syncplay.pl
  2. launched the dmg
  3. dragged Syncplay into the apps folder
  4. I attempted to launch Syncplay from within the applications folder.

What I expected to be met with was the standard warning that "This app was downloaded from the internet are you sure you want to open it?"

I am running

  • MacOS ventura (13.6.3)
  • Syncplay version 1.7.1

I am also more generally attempting to run Syncplay with VLC (3.0.20) though I suspect this has little to do with the error given that I have yet to launch Syncplay altogether.
