review of `<list rend="specList">`

There is one case of <list rend="specList"> in section FTNM (15.3, “Notated Music in Written Text”).

@sydb suggests that either it or (preferably) the <specList> immediately preceding should be ditched.

A Stylesheets issue could be opened to address the output of <list rend="specList"> so that it looks more like the output of a <specList>.

Note that, whether or not the proposal below is accepted, if we keep the <specList> (as opposed to the <list rend="specList">) in FT, we should add atts="mimeType" to the <specDesc key="ptr">.

An alternate proposal

Currently <specDesc> is defined as an empty element. Its semantics are that the content of the appropriate (based on @xml:lang) <desc> of the element or class indicated by the required @key attribute (or @key plus @atts) is sucked into the document at the point the <specDesc> appears. Why not allow it (<specDesc>) to have content, with the semantics of “use this content; if there is none, then suck in the content from appropriate <desc>(s)”?
