if we want to introduce an early-game SFM behaviour, then using written books or books and quills and stuff sounds like a fun low-tech thing.
having many books, having a surplus, if given a way to disassemble books into paper and leather, it would feel good.
If we want to store information in bulk, like if a user wanted a printer that sfm could use to print logs or the user could use to print custom messages, then having many books in which to store the logs makes sense.

perhaps more traditionally, it would be a furnace-like block in the world.

currently, the manager block entity only stores logs once instructed to by a user. those logs are lost when the block entity is dropped in memory. if the user wants to print some diagnostics and see them after a world reload, a printer block that consumes paper and ink to produce printed pages would be neat

perhaps you could wash pages in a cauldron or something to turn a printed page back into paper and ink
