Please do look into it! It's been bugging me forever. Only reason I haven't tracked it down is because, like you say, it's not super high priority.

Btw, I don't think the problem is (always) tied to resize: on some random page loads, keeping the screen size the same, I've seen the same behavior.

For some reason when I run this locally, it looks like this. How do I fix that? I remember this coming up with someone else... thanks!

That's the mobile media query getting activated. Resizing the window should give you back the desktop layout. But I can't see why the media queries would be different when you're running locally than on the live site...
