The guide was built on ubuntu 23.04. You can download that version here: https://old-releases.ubuntu.com/releases/lunar/ I haven't done anything further to keep it compatible with subsequent releases of Ubuntu due to the continuous extra effort that would require. |

Well - after following a metric ton of possible solutions from ChatGPT, here is the final ChatGPT verdict (I didn't know that Lenovo had an updated firmwareor that it was a thing): To proceed with rooting, you must have either: ✔ The official MT8167 DA file for this exact Lenovo device OR ✔ A known exploit for this secure bootloader version As of today, neither is publicly available. So: ❌ You cannot dump boot.img Your device is not the same as the ones the guide was written for. |

Don't rely on ChatGPT, it's clearly making stuff up that isn't true.
There is no known firmware for the Smart Clock 2 that is not rootable.
Issues with mtkclient are best directed st that project's support resources.

❗ THEREFORE: You cannot continue with rooting right now
To proceed with rooting, you must have either:
✔ The official MT8167 DA file for this exact Lenovo device
OR
✔ A known exploit for this secure bootloader version
As of today, neither is publicly available.
So:
❌ You cannot dump boot.img
❌ You cannot unlock seccfg
❌ You cannot flash a patched boot
❌ You cannot proceed with the ThomasPrior rooting instructions
Your device is not the same as the ones the guide was written for.

Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.

I keep getting an error when attempting to root my Smart Clock 2. Specifically, I get: DAXFlash - Reconnecting to stage2 with higher speed DeviceClass - [Errno 2] Entity not found.
It has taken me a while to even get here as apparently there are changes to Ubuntu which have required a work around in the script.
Still, does anyone have any insight on this error and how to get an img dump?
