Week #1: Installation Errors

Hello All, short poll, trying to gauge how the installing R package process has been going.

Had to get permission from institution for Positron, but everything else fine.

When installing some packages from bioconductor i got the following warning:

"Installation paths not writeable, unable to update packages path: C:/Program Files/R/R-4.5.2/library packages: cluster, foreign, mgcv, survival"

I ran positron as administrator and installed the four packages individually. Apparently it worked.

Hi @AgusDRizzo, I believe those four packages (cluster, foreign, lattice, mgcv, and survival) have some components that make them by default need to be installed within the software folder above (instead of a personal library where everything else is stored). So they often run into permission issues when updating unless you run as administrator (as you ended up doing).

Not quite sure why that is the case, but searching online appears to be a common occurrence. As long as an initial version is installed, you should be okay in most cases, even if you are not able to update them (in a situation where you don't have admin permissions).
