Options for foam - thickness and stretch

I'm sure many users of cosplay use this for cosplay already - but having options to export it so that it works for foam props would be amazing. I've documented already sort of an ideal solution, but have no idea what would require it to be done as well.

I hope this works - I don't know if this sort of triangulation is possible, or if it's doable, as I don't know the coding experience necessary to make such a thing happen or it's limitations. I also don't know if I've explained it well enough here, but let me know if there's more info I can give!

Thank you! I'll try to sum up the individual ideas I see there:

1. Calculate where darts need to go to create curves
2. Hide folding lines if the material can be bent instead
3. Take thickness of the material into account
4. Registration marks labeling pieces
5. Visualize the angle along seams (most importantly, tell if it is convex or concave)

I believe 3 (paper thickness) and 4 (named islands) are already implemented, and I'd be glad if you test they work well. Island naming, however, is shown only on tabs, so it does not work when tabs are disabled. That may be an issue, I guess.

Then 2 (hidden edge angle) is technically possible but you'd integrate it earlier in the process. How exactly? Is a similar effect possible to do with built-in blender tools, like Select Similar -> Face Angles (Shift + G)?

Showing seam angle is somewhat similar to proposal #96, showing angle on folding edges. From a technical standpoint, it has much to do with material thickness (3) and perhaps could share some of the code already written.

Regarding 1, I'm not sure I understand. What are these darts? How would curves be created?

for 1 - support for bending/curving material would amazing! I guess you'd have to have a threshold where it would try to make a bend vs keep a regular fold. I think they are saying the darts are similar to darts used in sewing patterns? Multiple darts along an edge can be used to guide the material in a bend without having firm fold lines.
