Feature request: option to ignore whitespace changes

I sometimes want to ignore any change that is only changing the amount of whitespace. jj diff has an option for this: --ignore-space-change. Maybe there could be a toggle to enable/disable this?

I haven't tested it to see if it behaves well, but you can try overriding the config diff_opts.

In particular ignore_whitespace_change = true looks interesting (though there are a bunch of ws options). You can see available options in https://neovim.io/doc/user/lua.html#vim.text

Btw. this is what Gemini came up with to implement a keymap to toggle it on and off (in case somebody else finds this issue):

What's the difference between diff_opts and fine_diff_opts?

One is used for line-wise diffs, the other is used for word-level diffs within a hunk (as seen in the inline diff view).
