Feature Request: Android Port
First of all, thank you for bringing this amazing project to macOS. It's great to see this classic game becoming playable on modern platforms.
Why an Android port?
An Android version would make a huge difference for the community.
Benefits
- 📱 Play anywhere without needing a PC or Mac.
- 🌍 Reach a much larger audience, since Android has billions of users.
- 🎮 RTS games work surprisingly well on modern touchscreens with the right UI.
- ❤️ Help preserve this classic game for future generations on mobile devices.
- 🤝 Attract new contributors who are interested in Android development.
Ideas and Suggestions
- Native Android build (preferred).
- Support for Bluetooth keyboards and mice.
- Optional gamepad/controller support.
- Touch-friendly interface with gestures for:
- Pinch to zoom
- Drag to move the camera
- Tap to select
- Long press for contextual actions
- Cross-platform save compatibility (if technically possible).
- Support for high refresh rate displays (90Hz/120Hz).
- ARM64 optimization for modern Android devices.
Why now?
Modern Android phones are powerful enough to run games like Command & Conquer without any issues. Many users already emulate old PC games on Android, but having a native version would provide much better performance, battery life, and user experience.
Community Interest
I believe an Android port would generate significant excitement and attract many new players. There are very few high-quality native RTS games available on Android, and this project could become one of the best ways to experience the classic Command & Conquer on mobile.
Even if a full Android release isn't planned yet, it would be great to know whether it's on the roadmap or if the community could help make it happen.
Thanks again for your incredible work! ❤️
