UwView v1.7.3.6 “Wide Field” — search many logs from the command line, read the hits in the window

UwView v1.7.3.6 “Wide Field” is out. It is the first free release that searches many files at once.

• Many files in one run. Wildcards and ** for subfolders. Files matched by .ignore / .gitignore are skipped, using the same rules as ripgrep (.rgignore is not read). Always quote the pattern.
• Seven compressed formats, no external commands: gz, bz2, xz, lzma, zst, lz4, br — searched as they decompress, mixed with plain text.
• Read the hits in the window. -open hands the results to the GUI; it does not search again. Results read file-number:line (for example 3:128). Double-click a hit to open that file at that line. A file list shows which number is which file, and files can open in extra tabs (up to 8).
• Bookmarks are remembered per file, and can be exported with line numbers. Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+F, F3 / Shift+F3, Ctrl+L, Ctrl+B, [ ], F5 (Cmd on a Mac).

Measured (one Mac: Apple M4, 10 cores, external USB SSD; hot cache, faster of two runs; 28 Sep 2026; uvf 1.7.3.4, same search code as 1.7.3.6):

The 12-file result is also on par (uvf 1.40× and 1.44× faster; under 1.5× we do not call it a difference). Where UwView loses: on several plain-text files only, ripgrep was slightly faster (uvf took 1.17× as long). Every condition is on the benchmarks page.

Not a grep drop-in: regular expressions use .NET syntax (uvf --help regex explains, including how to rewrite a ripgrep pattern). The free edition does not read .zip, .tar.gz or OSM .pbf.

• ブックマークをファイルごとに覚えます。 行番号つきで書き出せます。キー操作: Ctrl+F・F3／Shift+F3・Ctrl+L・Ctrl+B・[ ]・F5（Mac は Cmd）。

実測（Mac（Apple M4・10コア）・外付け USB SSD・hot（各2回の速い方）・2026年9月28日・uvf 1.7.3.4（検索の処理は 1.7.3.6 と同じ））

12本（gz 7本＋平文5本・展開後 約60GB）	24.62秒	25.38秒	17.60秒

12本も同等の範囲です（uvf が 1.40倍・1.44倍速い。1.5倍未満は差と呼びません）。負けるところ: 平文だけを複数まとめて探すと、ripgrep の方が少し速い結果でした（uvf は 1.17倍の時間）。条件はすべて実測まとめにあります。
