Garbage collector eats garbage. If you are accidentally eaten, you might get a free ride to Garbage Town. It is deep in the cold zone, however, so survival could be difficult. Garbage town is where the garbage collector(s?) live. When the planet was engineered, sanitation was built into the ecology (this knowledge has been lost over time) in the form of GC. GC(s) travel all over Town World collecting refuse and recycling it. Unfortunately for the town worlders, they know nothing about this. The fact that their trash disappears is as normal as the moonrise in the morning and setting in the evening. In the meantime, the garbage is recycled into a lot of beautiful, useful stuff that goes uncollected. As a result, garbage town is a surprisingly lovely, if occasionally cluttered place that never stops growing.
