Towerful
A large corporation named Towerful (housed entirely in a large-ish tower) performed genetic and other experiments, including creating the first sentient computers (see Compu4 and Solar Town) and the flower creatures. The employee entrance was guarded by their first creation, the Meowmaids and a raging fire. The fire was set accidentally...but was put to occasional use in attempts to dispose of the out of control Compu4 population. There was a retail complex nearby, which was cut off by the fire. Legend tells that it still exists, but everything in it is really old. For some context, the song “Everything is Accented” had just been released.
