Clicking on Help>Reference Manual or about this editing mode has no effect, does not pull up the manual or any pop-up dialog.

hmmm that's a good point, I didn't notice that I messed up the documentation coming from DB2 as I suspect most people were not using it. I'm thinking a more appropriate solution these days might be moving the old documentation to a wiki. I'll have to think about this.
