Using cell registers for extracting field data using pyFLUENT

Is there a way to extract the field variable data on the cell register zones? Currently, I am unable to select the cell register zones for processing my field data, because it is not a valid zone as shown below.

I have 2 cell register zones in my fluent case file.

Fluent offers limited capabilities on cell registers; much more is supported for zones.
You may be able to use the register to split a cell zone so that the cells in the register are placed in a separate cell zone.
(That will introduce at least two additional "interior" face zones.)
