Honest answer: Android would not be a port. It would be a separate app.

Arroxy is built with Electron and React, uses a desktop-oriented UI, and bundles yt-dlp/ffmpeg as desktop binaries. None of that carries over cleanly to Android.

The binaries are solvable in theory: ffmpeg can be handled with ffmpeg-kit, and yt-dlp could potentially run through Chaquopy or a similar Python bridge. The real blockers are elsewhere:

• A full rewrite would be required in Kotlin/Compose or React Native, with essentially zero UI reuse.
• Google Play does not allow YouTube downloader apps, so distribution would likely be F-Droid or sideloading only, similar to NewPipe, Seal, and YTDLnis.
• Android Scoped Storage and mobile-side bot detection add extra complexity.
• Maintaining a second codebase would double the maintenance burden for a solo developer.
• NewPipe, Seal, and YTDLnis already cover this niche well on Android.

Realistically, this would be around 2–3 months of solo work for a separate app that only shares the Arroxy name.

It is not on the roadmap. You are welcome to build your own Android downloader inspired by Arroxy, but it should live in its own repository.
