The version 1.x.x series of our cookie banner was scoped to replacing the OneTrust cookie banner contract, which was expanding in price. We also accomplished meeting Illinois accessibility standards and campus brand guidelines. The 2.x.x series needs to be expanded to allow users to select their cookie choices, such as 'Accept All' and 'Only Necessary Cookies'. These updates will help meet campus user's expectations for Privacy standards in the campus web experience, and may become critical in the evolving compliance landscape. While most of our the campus web presence is not subject to GDPR or PIPL, the vision for this update is to support teams aiming for those levels of compliance as strongly as we practically can. In particular, all requests related to compliance will be considered, and contributions from teams with specific compliance needs will be prioritized to review and, is possible, merged. This release must also maintain compliance with campus accessibility and brand guidelines.
