Webform conditionals limited to 18 only - bug?

It appears that there is a limit of 18 conditionals in a webform. When clicking the + for a new conditional, after 18 have been entered, nothing happens, no message. It's hard to believe that this is by design as 18 is low, bearing in mind that webforms often have many fields, so possibly a bug, and not a limitation? It's possible I may be able to fund a fix as this is a real problem for the user. If there has to be a limit, 50 would seem to be more realistic.

I'm not deeply familiar with this, but I'd expect if it was a hard limit the "+" button would be removed at that point, so I'd guess this is a bug -- either in the module or some conflict that arises on the site in question.

Can you replicate on a vanilla site?

I created a quick webform on a test site, added 20 components and set up 18 conditionals. All OK. Then added another conditional and then another. All OK & saved. But... I can reproduce the problem on another webform very similar to the one I first found the problem. The difference is that they have a lots of data and several pages, whereas this test is very simple. Yet ithe problem webform allows variables to be added, and isn't that big that there's a resource problem.

Can you add the "Steps to reproduce" (on a vanilla install) to your first comment in this thread, so that it's easier for someone to reproduce and help diagnose? Maybe even a few screenshots of the type of webform you're working with on the vanilla site that is causing the problem? What do you mean "allows variables to be added"? Are there other contrib modules involved, too, or not?

Sorry for chiming in here. Form submissions and stuff doesn't save - that rings a bell...

@clarkac1 can you quickly compare the PHP settings for max_input_vars on your sites? You find this info on /admin/reports/status

I checked that and the .htaccess file has the 10007 number there for php variables, and the Backdrop status report is good. Also the hosting site (Civihosting) gives us 3GB storage. Additional modules over the test site I tried above are webform civicrm intergration, webform layout, webform select2, webform share, webform telephone and webform validation.

The recipe for this bug, which is 100% solid on a webform I'm working on, is to use the modules mentioned in the previous post, add a lot of fields and conditionals and eventually you won't be able to add any more conditionals. The webform in question is 4 pages, plus a preview and around 96 fields (including fieldsets) and 15 conditionals. Several of the conditionals are complex - i.e. have nested conditions. The form is protected by a Recaptcha but that's external to the webform. I thought the magic number of conditionals when it breaks was 18 but I've now see that I have 15 conditionals and can't add any more, which might be a clue. It does look like running out of something, but probably more subtle than that. PS. If you can point me to where the code is I can take a look, I'm not a developer but of course happy to help in any way I can.

This bug has just reappeared in the development of a 5 page webform - bigger than the previous one - so it does seem like a resource problem. I've exported, deleted, recreated and imported this webform but still I can't add any conditionals. I tried deleting a few conditionals in order to free up some resource, but even after deleting 3 conditionals I couldn't add any more. The system is at 1.32.1 with all modules up to date.

I have a site with a really comprehensive webform (115 components, 103 conditionals). With a certain number of conditionals, that page became so slow that it wasn't fun to add more conditionals, but I was still possible.

Just spitballing: Can you try to check the jQuery version at admin/config/development/jquery and try if switching the version changes the behavior?

I have jquery set to version 3 (recommended) so switched back to version 1 (legacy) but after clearing caches I still couldn't add a new conditional. This webform is using the webform-civicrm intergration which is also not behaving correctly, but is not a showstopper like this problem. I wonder if this integration is the cause of the problem? I am rebuilding the webform from scratch and adding enough conditionals while it's allowing that!
