I am having trouble reproducing the error. In the past I have seen errors where it didn't like a particular image type, could you try taking a picture, and using that as the profile? Also, do you see any errors in the logs?

It isn't on my phone, I'll suggest trying another image, maybe the size is the problem here

For my context:

Is the problem on the browser app then?
Does it allow you to select and crop the picture?
Does an error message appear, or does it silently fail?

after you click to save it returns to the profile menu without changing the picture

When you said browser app I tought you mean Android

It was on android g play version and not in the web browser

Have to ask, since I don't have g play version, I'll say something soon

Alright I sort it out, it happens if you zoom the picture to crop and save it

If you select the picture and save it, it will work

I was still not able to reproduce the issue, but then my Pixel.8 did a system update. Now the checkbox is very hard to tap when selecting a profile image. I assume this is the issue you were seeing. I hope to have this resolved soon.

since also mentioned the layout inside the chat, the right side is cropped where the date starts

If I add a very long name, I am able to reproduce the cropped date in the message thread.
I will also resolve this shortly.
