OpenClaw Installation Error

Hello, I am a customer of Olares One and attempted to install OpenClaw on my Olares One by following the tutorial. However, I encountered an error at the final step (#5) for personalizing Open Claw. This is the step just following adjusting my context window.

This is the error that I receive:

``` Agent failed before reply: No API key found for provider "ollama-qwen3-5". Auth store: /home/node/.openclaw/agents/main/agent/auth-profiles.json (agentDir: /home/node/.openclaw/agents/main/agent). Configure auth for this agent (openclaw agents add ) or copy auth-profiles.json from the main agentDir. Logs: openclaw logs --follow ```

I am not sure what to do to fix this. Can you help me?

Hi @leVoT8 , just to confirm, did the agent respond normally before you adjusted the context window?

Regarding error, it appears to require an API key, but none was provided. For the local Ollama instance, you can input any string as the key, but please avoid using ollama or any key name present in the OpenClaw configuration file. This is because OpenClaw may mistakenly mask strings matching the API key, which can lead to issues when editing or saving the config.

You can edit the api key manually by adding a line in config file as follow

Hey @leVoT8! This error means OpenClaw needs auth credentials for the ollama-qwen3-5 provider. Quick fix:

Option 1: Configure auth for your agent

openclaw agents add main

Then follow prompts to add your Ollama API endpoint/key.

Option 2: Copy from main agent (if you've already configured it elsewhere)

cp ~/.openclaw/agents/main/auth-profiles.json /home/node/.openclaw/agents/main/agent/

Option 3: Use a different provider
If you don't have Ollama set up, switch to OpenAI/Anthropic/etc:

openclaw config set defaultProvider anthropic

The error is coming from /home/node/.openclaw/agents/main/agent/auth-profiles.json - that file either doesn't exist or is missing the ollama-qwen3-5 entry.

Thank you for your responses. However, I am still encountering difficulties. After following the instructions closely on (Olares OpenClaw Tutorial)[https://docs.olares.com/use-cases/openclaw.html#initialize-openclaw]. Using this tutorial is what brought me to the error regarding the API key.

Could you please try adding "apiKey": "any_string" to "olares-qwen-small"?

Alternatively, if you can wait for 1-2 days. You might consider uninstalling and starting fresh with the new version.
The latest version of OpenClaw has added Ollama as an official provider, which makes the setup much easier. We are currently testing and will release an update shortly, along with corresponding documentation on OpenClaw use cases.

Please upgrade Olares to 1.12.5 (you may need to turn on RC update on LarePass to get the pre release version).
Then completely remove OpenClaw and reinstall it (version 0.1.27 and later).
