Font Size Control

I tried looking for a way to modify the font size, even in a config file somewhere, and I couldn't seem to find anything. Is there a way to override the default font sizes used? It's very small on the TrimUI Brick (NextUI) and my fading eyesight is struggling 😅

Yeah there isn't any global way to modify font sizes for the ports themselves but for the GUI it should be possible by modifying the active theme. Have a look at https://portmaster.games/themes.html

TrimUI Brick Font Increase

Theme files are located somewhere similar to /Emus/tg5040/PORTS.pak/PortMaster/pylibs/ or /Emus/tg5040/PORTS.pak/PortMaster/themes/{theme_name}. You're looking for a theme.json file.

For all around font increase, open the file with a text or code editor and search for "#base", usually the second option where the font details are decided (e.g. "font": "DejaVuSans.ttf",). I used the FTP server, downloaded the file, edited it, then reuploaded it. I recommend backing up the theme.json file before editing!

In the default theme, and probably others, there's no "4:3" option, so you'll need to add one (Brick is a 4:3 device). This is why it defaults to 1.0 scaling. For me I found that somewhere between 1.2 and 1.5 was perfect. Add to the json, it should look something like this:

Important that you don't add a final comma, json doesn't support trailing commas. If your theme doesn't have this, look at the default theme file and maybe copy over just the font-scale part, or look for where font-scale is being set otherwise.

Save and restart PortMaster to see the effects! If the theme or PortMaster ever updates you might need to do this again.
