Describe the feature
I use Companion to select and play clips from a Hyperdeck. It would be nice if there was a screen grab feature that could update the button background image based on a single frame of whatever media clip is selected.
Currently, in order to visually see what clips each button will load, I manually screen grab stills of each clip, then convert them to conform to the Companion requirements for button BG images and then find and load each file into Companion. It's a long process particularly when adding lots of new clips.
Usecases
This would be very useful to create clip playback buttons that are easy to identify, as the backgrounds are actually of the clips being played back. Trying to manually screen grab and create BG buttons on a daily basis is not a quick process so it often gets postponed to a later time. Often the variations of clips are subtle so it's difficult to rely on names alone. So being able to see a preview of the clip as a button background before activating it would be very useful.
