Compatibility issue with VMWare Workstation 17.6.3

Describe the Bug/Issue

Cursr works great on my 4 monitor setup - 1 X 4K and 3 X 1080p all 27", so having the scaling work making the mouse go where expected is fantastic. It works well until I open VMWare workstation. If VMW is running and open on any of my displays, it is like Cursr is not there. I have tried opening Cursr as administrator, before strating VMWare, with the same results. Sometimes, if I have Cursr displayed on my primary screen, it continues to work but usually as soon as I display a VMWare screen the scaling stops working, and the monitor alignment goes back to Windows default. If I minimize the VMWare display to the task bar, all is well again until I bring up a VMWare screen again.

That may be because VMWare is taking control of the mouse/locking it inside of its own process, and/or mouse may not be reaching exact edge so transition never gets triggered.

If you disable Cursr, can you move mouse outside of VMWare window? (It's an old topic I looked into before but it's been a while since I tested VMWare related issues and don't remember what it was exactly, I'd test now but don't have time to look into it for next few weeks)

If you can move the mouse around then I need to look into it myself to see why Cursr is not working, but if you can't move mouse outside the VMWare (when it's the focused window) that would explain why Cursr transitions are not working. If that's the case see if you can prevent VMWare from capturing mouse within the bounds of the window. Cursr will later have offsets for edges letting user define edge detection/sensitivity which could help with this, but it's not the immediate item on the list at the moment so I can't provide a time estimate for it.

What can also be happening is that when mouse is in VMWare window it is swallowing all the mouse events so Cursr never gets them, especially if you tried running Cursr in admin mode. Actually - when VMWare is open, have Cursr open on the side as well - while you move mouse in VMWare window, do you see the mouse moving in Cursr app? If not then it's not even getting the mouse events/data.

I’m also experiencing this issue, so I can answer the questions. The mouse can leave VMware only on borders aligned with the native Windows display settings. Also, when the mouse is inside VMware, it doesn’t move in the Cursor app, as VMware seems to swallow all mouse events. I think this should be reported to VMware (Broadcom) rather than here.
