Connection Issue MQTT

Kept saying I wasn’t authorised but it’s finally reconnected again. I had to hold off for about 5 minutes.connection just randomly keeps dropping

The auth token expires after 1 hour, so I would recommend fetching a new token before reconnecting. Could this be the cause of your issue?

I do always refresh the token. It’s just concerning it keeps dropping as I’ve never had issues like this before

I believe it's caused by a security measure I have added recently. If a client disconnects more than 10 times within a minute, the server automatically bans it for 10 minutes. We've had a lot of abuse lately, and this keeps the feed stable for everyone.

One thing to watch out for: while banned, your client is refused with the same code as an authentication failure (rc=5, "not authorized"), so it can look like a credentials problem when it isn't; it'll simply keep getting rejected until the 10 minutes are up.

The fix is likely on the client side: replace the infinite reconnect loop with exponential backoff. For example, start at 1 second and double the wait up to a 30–60 second cap, with a bit of random jitter. That keeps you well under the 10-per-minute limit, so you won't trip the ban at all.
