I am still using this patch, and so far I haven't any issue. I will be glad if anyone else can check it.

@bradford-smith94 Maybe you can test this patch.

This assumes a single-user OS? How would it deal with multiple users who are allowed to update?

It creates informant.dat file inside user's cache folder: (~/.cache/informant.dat). So for multiple user we have multiple informant file.
