🚀 Getting Started

Follow these steps to set up the project locally on your machine.

Prerequisites

  • Node.js (v18 or higher)
  • npm or yarn
  • MongoDB Atlas account (or local MongoDB)

Installation

  1. Clone the repository

    git clone https://github.com/buildbyabhi/expensepro-fullstack.git
    cd expensepro-fullstack
  2. Install Frontend Dependencies

    cd frontend
    npm install
  3. Install Backend Dependencies

    cd ../backend
    npm install
  4. Set up Environment Variables Create a .env file in the backend directory:

    PORT=5000
    MONGO_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string
    JWT_SECRET=your_super_secret_key
  5. Run the App Open two terminals:

    • Terminal 1 (Backend): cd backend && npm start
    • Terminal 2 (Frontend): cd frontend && npm run dev

  • Backend: Node.js, Express.js
  • Database: MongoDB, Mongoose
