For most "let an agent drive a browser" jobs, you probably should — they're more mature, better-resourced (Microsoft and Google), more battle-tested, and broader (Playwright is cross-browser; Chrome DevTools MCP gives you performance traces and deep CDP introspection out of the box). Browser Operator does not out-engineer either of them and doesn't try to.
It's the better fit in a narrower band:
- You want to act in the user's own browser.
