MIDI I/O?

Hi,
I just discover this amazing platform! I'm about to order one (EDIT: I just ordered it).
I have a question I couldn't find in the FAQ, I thought I may ask it here. Are you considering adding MIDI in a future version? Would it be feasible to add MIDI as a DIY add on?

Yes, the plan was to add MIDI at some point in 2025. However, tariffs came along (and keep changing) and this has made the costs of most things in my supply chain unpredictable for the last 9 months. I've not been comfortable setting product pricing or sourcing and placing parts orders to prepare for a new hardware launch. But things appear to be somewhat stable for the moment ... stay tuned.

I suppose it's feasible, but not "simple", per se. You could reference the (totally awesome) Funbox project, as the Hothouse steals graciously admits to borrowing much of its design 😉 The pins used for the Funbox MIDI implementation are currently unused in the Hothouse.

There would be some challenges, however:

• The Daisy Seed pins are inserted into a header on the Hothouse. So you can only (reasonably) access them via:
  • the back of the Hothouse PCB, which is obscured by the pots, or
  • on the Daisy Seed itself. Eek.
• Physical space in the enclosure and dressing the flying wires.
• If it's not done well, a ground loop could be created.

Anyway, I hope that helps. If you go the DIY route, please share! Until then, thanks for the patience and understanding re: MIDI support.
