Attached jpeg not loaded into Media Library

I am testing Post by Email and am having a problem with attachments.

JPEG: An attached image is showing up as a placeholder in the post but the actual image is not being loaded into the Media library, so the image shows up in the post as a question mark.

PDF: An attached PDF does not show up at all, not in the post nor in the Media Library.

Same problem here, I don't even see a placeholder. I use multisite btw. Otherwise a great plugin, nice work!
