Remove Extraneous output filters in Sample Product Template

I really want our product template to be clean -- as you know, I dislike the use of if/then output filters in our templates, so stuff like 

   [[getProductImages:isequalto=``:then=`...

is not a great way to structure the template.  Let's get the sample template working so it does not use output filters like this.  We may need to adjust the actual snippets.
