Hi, i tried to launch the simulator from unreal engine (4.14.3), and i got this error :

This was extracted from the logfile, while building i also had a popup saying that this project was built on another version of UE4... But i don't have any warning when i start building it.
Can anyone help me with this issue?

You should be able to "Open deepdrive uproject file - choose other -> Skip Conversion". The specific Unreal GUID will usually be different due to using source builds. The errors you mentioned are due to needing to build the DeepDrive Unreal plugin which you should be prompted to do when opening the project. Can you please send the entire log as well? There may be an error building the plugin.

The prompt you're talking about appears nowhere, or at least i didn't find it, also, i forgot to tell i'm on windows (7, 64 bits).

According to the log file it never reaches the point to start building the plugin. It fails to build the Python extension beforehand. Maybe @crizCraig could have a look at this issue for I am not into this matter so much.

Did you git clone? It looks like the build script is not finding the .git folder in root. I'll make the build robust to this, but in the meantime, you may be able to workaround by doing a git clone and ensuring git status works.

Yes, i git cloned.
I also tried launching the simulator using the deepdrive_sim branch, but it still doesn't work. By the way, i aunched launched it with UE4.18, and still have the same error: missing or uncompatible files, and after asking for unreal to recompile the files, i got a compilation error.

Hi @RomainV92 - sorry for these issues. I think the best bet is to stay with master and Unreal 4.14. Can you paste the output log of the failed build please? Also, does git status work for you in the deepdrive-sim directory?

Hi, what do you mean? I already sent you logs, and it doesn't seem to be other logs to find. When i run DeepDrive.uproject, i have no console opening, only the pop up i uploaded in my precedent message.
Yes, git status works perfectly fo me, it says i'm up to date with the branch master (i went back on it when i saw the other one doesn't work either).

Hmm, I'm not seeing the failed build in this one. In general, when the project fails to open, a good bet is to run clean.bat or clean.sh to rebuild things. In your case though, we have not been able to open the prebuilt sim, c.f. deepdrive/deepdrive#22 - so I'd say that's the first step. I'm also happy to debug with you in a zoom or google hangout if you'd like.

Hi, i still tried running clean.bat, but the problem is still the same (well, i'm not even surprised, it would have been too easy).
Everything is working with the prebuilt sim now, and well i would like to see this working on my computer too, so why not. Should i send a mail to your deepdrive address (i don't want to leave my mail here)?

I had a similar problem, and found that my python environment wasnt up to scratch ( in linux) and couldnt find pathlib module although pip list showed pathlib as installed. turned out to be default python was 2.7 while I was setting everything up in python 3.6 but symptom was exactly the same.
could not build modules, while deepdrive itself ran like a charm ( on a 80 core machine with quadro RTX6000) will run the benchmark next
