qrate is a desktop app for collection catalogs. It edits a project in a spreadsheet grid, checks the data against validators, and exports it to the formats other systems expect. Help ▸ User Guide in qrate opens this page.
New to qrate? Read Getting started first. It walks you from the install to your first export in five short steps.
- Projects: create, import, open, and save a
.qrateproject, and add files or rows to it - The grid: edit cells, group rows, search, filter, and undo
- Change history: see, name, and restore every change to a project
- Keyboard shortcuts: every shortcut, in one table
- Files and photos: link records to files, and view them
- Visual search: find records by what their pictures show
- Diagnostics: the Problems panel, spelling, and fixes
- Columns: column types, authority lists, and per-column settings
- Export and Google Sheets: CSV, Excel, JSON-LD, CSL-JSON, ZIP, and Sheets sync
- The Agent panel: how a local AI agent reads a project
- Plugins: find, install, and manage plugins
- Develop plugins: create, test, and publish a plugin
- Plugin API reference: hooks, host functions, and declarations
- Islandora plugin: use Islandora vocabularies in qrate
Start with CONTRIBUTING.md. Setup and releases covers
local prerequisites, CI, and the release runbook, and Embedded Pi agent
covers the bundled agent. The rest of docs/dev holds design notes and plans.
