Fail to save changes when connected by VPN

For some reason, it is not possible to edit or create new entries when I'm connected by VPN. Otherwise everything works normal when accessed by VPN. Error message "Failed to save subscription. Try again".

I tried with my VPN on, but I can’t reproduce this.

It’s strange that the app loads over VPN, but creating new subscriptions fails. Could you try running this in a terminal while connected to the VPN and share the output?

Also, if you can, open your browser’s DevTools, usually Ctrl+Shift+I, and check if there are any errors in the Console or Network tab.

if your db is hosted locally (on the same host machine, given that its an sqlite db, it should be). vpn shouldnt impact it.

Thanks for the output, that helps. Since the GET request works, we know the app is reachable over VPN.

The browser screenshot shows the save request is reaching the app, but the app is returning 500.
Could you try creating a subscription again, then get the server logs right after?

You can get the server logs by running this command on the machine where your subscription-manager is hosted.

docker logs <container_name> --tail 100

That should show the actual error behind the failed save.

It turns out upon trying it locally, I was still unable to save any changes. I checked the file permissions on the NAS which all seemed fine. I renamed the database to .old and created a new database. I was then able to reenter all subscriptions without issue.

It looks like this is more of a data migration bug than an issue with the VPN. Did you notice this issue after upgrading to the latest release?

Yes, I do believe it started after upgrading to latest version. I've been using this program since the very first version. It is working fine over VPN now so I agree it must have been corrupt database since recreating the database in the latest version seems to be working fine. I tested NTFY as well and its working perfectly.

Older databases could be missing the tags column, causing saves to return 500.
I added an automatic database migration in dh1011/subscription-manager:3.2.9 release. Existing subscriptions are preserved, but I recommend backing up your data folder before updating.
