Welcome to "smtty" Discussions

Welcome to "smtty" gamescope wrapper Discussions!

This is the lab for real hardware testing. Share what works, what breaks, and what your setup looks like so smtty gets stronger across GPUs, displays, drivers, and stubborn edge cases.

Use Discussions for

• Hardware-specific quirks and tuning
• “Is this a bug or my setup?” questions
• Feature ideas and workflow feedback

If you can reproduce a bug on the latest version with clear steps, open a GitHub Issue. If you are unsure, start here.

Post a useful report

Keep it short and concrete:

• Distro + version
• Kernel
• Gamescope version
• Steam type: Flatpak or native
• GPU + driver
• CPU (optional but helpful)
• Display model(s), resolution, refresh, VRR/HDR
• Where you launch from: primarily TTY, X11 (Xorg), or Wayland session
• Exact WM/DE (Hyprland, Sway, KDE, GNOME, i3, etc.)
• smtty profile bits that matter
• Steps to reproduce
• Logs (code blocks)

Rules

• Be cool. No insults, harassment, or pile-ons.
• Stay on smtty and the tech around it.
• One problem per thread.
• Bring data when you can. (Logs)
• No hate speech, threats, doxxing, or piracy support.
• Disagree with ideas, not people.

My current test hardware

My daily driver is:

• CPU: Ryzen 7 7700
• GPU: RX 6800 XT

If your hardware is a different platform, your reports are extra useful. That is how we close gaps and catch edge cases.
