How to participate in a committee hearing

  1. Check the hearing schedule for the relevant committee
  2. Many committees accept written testimony — submit in advance to the committee clerk
  3. To testify in person, sign up the morning of the hearing (arrive early)
  4. Bring printed copies of written testimony for each committee member
  5. Follow committee rules on time limits (typically 3-5 minutes for oral testimony)
  6. House hearings are typically audio/video livestreamed
  7. Senate hearings are typically audio-only but may be recorded
