[ANN] Upcoming Repository Restructuring: Migrating from Rust Workspace to a Single-Crate Model

Hi everyone,

To improve our package and dependency management, we’ve made the difficult decision to restructure the DXC repository. After careful evaluation, we will be transitioning away from our current Rust workspace setup and adopting a traditional single-crate model.

As part of this change, the following crates will be merged into a single unified crate named dxc:

• dxc-components
• dxc-dxc
• dxc-examples
• dxc-hooks
• dxc-macros
• dxc-themes
• dxc-types
• dxc-utils

This decision was not taken lightly. It stems from the lack of mature CLI tooling that effectively supports multi-crate workflows in our development and release pipeline. Despite exploring several alternatives, we have not found a maintainable solution that meets our needs without introducing significant complexity or fragility.

We understand this change may affect your current workflows, and we’re committed to making the transition as smooth as possible:

• We’ll provide clear and detailed migration guides.
• All public APIs will be preserved (with only minor re-exports if necessary).
• The merge will be released as a new major version to clearly signal breaking changes.
