2026-08-01 14:15 — Fixed Gradle Java Compatibility

  • Did: Diagnosed and resolved ./gradlew projects failure caused by Java 26 incompatibility with Gradle 8.5. Installed OpenJDK 21 via Homebrew and ran the command successfully, revealing project structure (application, library subprojects).
  • Changed: None committed (temporary Gradle wrapper version testing was reverted).
  • Next: Continue with Nx Gradle tutorial using JAVA_HOME=/home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/opt/openjdk@21 or link openjdk@21 permanently.

2026-08-03 16:45 — Set Java 21 as default and updated Gradle wrapper

  • Did: Made Java 21 the default by updating symlinks (java, javac, javadoc, javap). Updated Gradle wrapper from 8.5 to 9.6.1 to ensure compatibility with Java 21. Verified nx graph works without JAVA_HOME override.
  • Changed: application/build.gradle, gradle/wrapper/gradle-wrapper.properties, library/build.gradle, nx.json
  • Next: Continue with nx graph exercises in the Gradle monorepo

2026-08-04 17:00 — Fixed Gradle/Spring Boot compatibility for Nx builds

  • Did: Diagnosed build failures caused by Gradle 9.6.1 incompatibility with Spring Boot 3.2.2's dependency management plugin. Downgraded Gradle to 8.6, added base plugin to root build.gradle. Verified nx run application:build and nx build gradle-tutorial both succeed with 100% task success rate.
  • Changed: gradle/wrapper/gradle-wrapper.properties, build.gradle
  • Next: Complete Nx Cloud workspace setup to enable remote caching
