Badges seem to lock up randomly

I've seen several people having trouble with this. I don't know if they flash the TX LED because they are transmitting or because they detected a fault, but they all blink it.

my badge is currently unusable after trying to upload the latest firmware. this was successful at least twice, but of the many times I've tried to turn it on, it's either done nothing (most of the time), displayed the logo (some of the time) or displayed the menu (rarely, about 2 out of 20-25 tries) but doesn't respond to the buttons. any pointers or advice? where are those 'erase' pins (see wiki) and do I need to upload the firmware again when it's erased?

Do you have permanently but dimly lit TX and RX buttons? If so it could be the same that happened to mine. The erase jumper through holes are labelled on the board and they might have something to do with the recovery that I tried. I think the thing that finally worked was to open a serial terminal at 1200 baud - the USB CDC implementation on the little Atmel chip on board should tidy things up for you (see http://playground.arduino.cc/Bootloader/DueBootloaderExplained)
