Wanted: Create layer from selected features button

Almost daily I use "Create layer from selected features". It's a pain that it's buried 3 levels deep, and that although you can enter customize mode and create a button for it, the button remains permanently disabled.

Possible resources:

• use a selection of features in ArcMap in Python script
• copy only selected with CopyFeature_management
• Creating a Python add-in button
