Hi Erica and the Obsidian team,
I’m a big fan of Gemmy—it’s a classic piece of Obsidian history. However, since Gemmy was released, the official Obsidian branding has evolved into the sleek, modern logo we use today. Currently, Gemmy still sports the "vintage" gemstone look.
I’ve spent some time creating a fresh set of animations based on the new Obsidian logo geometry. My goal was to bring Gemmy into the modern era while keeping the same "unhelpful" charm and personality that the community loves.
What I’ve updated:
Logo Assets: Replaced the old shard geometry with the current "S-curve" gemstone.
Animation States: Re-created the idle, talking, and "helpful" animations to match the new silhouette.
Code: Ensured the implementation remains lightweight and compatible with current Obsidian versions.
I would love to contribute these updates to the official repository. Are you open to a Pull Request to give Gemmy a 2026 makeover?
Happy to provide a preview/GIF of the new animations if you’d like to see them in action first!
Best, Justice
