Codebase Context

Root Cause

The error originates from useCaretNearBottom in apps/desktop/src/session/components/caret-position-context.tsx.

The checkCaretPosition closure accesses editor.view.coordsAtPos(from) (line 75), but the only guard before it is !editor.isFocused (line 69). In tiptap v3 (3.20.1), accessing editor.view when the editor isn't mounted yet throws the [tiptap error]: The editor view is not available error.

The stack trace confirms this fires during React's commitPassiveMountOnFiber — i.e., the initial useEffect mount. On line 90, checkCaretPosition() is called immediately (not just registered as an event handler), so if the editor object exists but its ProseMirror view hasn't mounted yet, it crashes.

Existing Pattern for This

The codebase already handles this race condition elsewhere. In apps/desktop/src/chat/components/input/hooks.ts (L83-97), useAutoFocusEditor guards with:

The caret-position-context.tsx is missing an equivalent editor.isInitialized / !editor.isDestroyed check.

Potential Fix

Add a guard in checkCaretPosition before accessing editor.view:
