What happened? How can it be reproduced? Provide as much information as possible.

When a callsign is entered in the callsign field—in this case, DL0DA—the callsign is automatically entered into the search field in the upper left corner.

The QSO table then also displays callsigns that begin with DL0DA. In the case of call sign suffixes, such as /P, /MM, etc., that's definitely OK.

Is that correct? If that’s how it’s supposed to work, it’s not a problem for me, and there’s no need to change it on my part.

Yeah that is the expected behavior. It performs a search for you to see potential previous contacts. It does do a wildcard type match to include portable or other operations for instance if I enter WE9G it matches for various activations.

You can leave it as is, as AA5SH's example shows. However, in my example, completely different callsigns are displayed. I noticed it more or less by chance, and I don't think it's a big problem since it certainly doesn't affect many cases.

Therefore, the question is how much effort is worth investing here. Personally, it doesn't bother me much, as I'm very adaptable in these situations.

I think it's as correct as it is now. In #90 you actually indirectly asked for it to work that way - that means there should be a partial search.
