[BUG] Fork Client update check interval is too short

Clarification edit: the reason for GitHub pinging is to check for APP updates for the Fork Client itself.

App (downloaded from F-Droid versions up to 12.2.6.0) is incessantly pinging github. Stop all connections to github unless authorized.

Is it checking for APP updates? If so, it is necessary to incorporate an option to disable the update checks, as well as to establish settings for checking frequency with a maximum interval of up to 14 days.

Edit: New 12.2.7.0 build on F-Droid added an option called "Update Check Interval" which uses 30 minutes as default to check for APP updates from GitHub.
Interval value setting is placed under Settings> Fork Client Settings> Chat list view> Update Check Interval

+1 for being able to disable the check completely. I'd imagine most people grabbing the github version would be doing so with Obtanium.

I've changed default Settings> Fork Client Settings> Chat list view> Update Check Interval> 30 minutes TO > Disabled and that seems to stop the GitHub pinging.

Note

Consider:

• Set default Update Check Interval to Disabled. At least to a sane value e.g. 24 hours.
• Pop-up or notification or whatever regarding Update Check Interval on first install/launch that will help to inform new users
• Gray text under Update Check Interval about where the connections are made and why
• Document default connections made on the project page with reasons
• Move Update Check Interval to below Hide Sensitive Data for ideal visibility and categorization
• Remove or disable outright for F-Droid builds. Probably unnecessary.

Ah. Sorry for the confusion. I am already using the F-Droid version and the pinging was present in the F-Droid version. I will update my post regarding this.

Does that mean the option already exists and simply isn't clear in its description/location? (I assumed "update interval" had something to do with the chats).
