First, I'd add a user following system. Right now, users can read blogs but can't follow specific writers. Adding follow functionality would let users build a personalized feed of content from authors they like. This creates a more social experience and helps writers build audiences.

I'd also implement a tagging system alongside categories. Categories are broad, but tags would allow more granular discovery. Someone searching for "React hooks" would find relevant blogs faster than browsing a general "Programming" category.

The search feature needs enhancement—I'd add filters for date range, popularity, reading time, and multiple tags. This helps users find exactly what they're looking for.

Phase 2: Technical Improvements for Scale

As the platform grows, performance becomes critical. I'd implement Redis caching for frequently accessed blogs and user sessions. MongoDB is great, but caching hot data would dramatically speed up page loads.
